WELCOME TO THE 10th SF INDIEFEST!
10 years ago, we thought San Francisco could use an independent film festival to compliment our great art houses, established film fests and strong art scene. The world and the city has changed a bit since 1998, but every year more Bay Area film lovers come to our festivals and enjoy the opportunity to see films they won't see elsewhere. Two years ago, the Chronicle declared that IndieFest was "the real deal" in the world of independent film festivals, that SF IndieFest is what Sundance used to be but is no more. And once again this year, you can discover great new films and meet filmmakers destined to shake up "indiewood" with their work.
The festival has really grown in the last decade, with more films, more parties, and more visiting filmmakers. But we're still the largest audience-supported grassroots film festival in town. What we're lacking in corporate dollars, we make up for with our devoted IndieFest filmgoers. Thanks, guys! We'll try to reward you with all the stuff you really want to see at the movies.
We also thank all of our supporters over the last 10 years: all the wonderful supportive companies; our great volunteers; our new members; the SF Grants for the Arts; and you, the lover of independent film for keeping us going.
ENJOY THE FESTIVAL!
