“I hope this independent film has both Irish and Canadians identifying with this dysfunctional but loving Irish family as they take on the biggest fight of their lives - all the while being entertained by the perverse humor.” - Director Mike Scullion
“Good, unclean, plain-old adult fun.” - Calgary Sun
Gobshite is a (blacker than pitch) comedy crime thriller about Ronnie Banks, an amoral (and more than slightly demented) English gangster, who upsets the underworld pecking order by deciding he wants a bigger piece of the criminal pie controlled by “The Gov.”
While finishing his latest stint in prison, Ronnie “the Rabbit” devises a get-rich quick scheme, finds a pair of willing henchmen and travels to a sleepy, seaside community in Ireland to rob the Lord of the Manor. To disguise his plan from the locals and The Gov, and get closer to his mark, he arranges to “acquire” a local Irish family’s pub to promote the (barely drinkable) Squizz Ale. But Ronnie's real problems begin when the rightful owners of the pub decide to fight for their ancestral pub and the brawling Irishmen (and women) provide far more resistance than expected.
