Synopsis Victoria Theater 2/11/2007 7PM2/17/2007 4:30PM“Dear San Francisco Independent Film Festival Programmer: ‘Rolling’ is a film that explores a subject that other films only touch upon. (The use of) MDMA (Ecstasy) is, without question, one of the most significant drug phenomena in human history. Despite this, there has yet to be a fictional film that focuses on the drug or, more specifically, the users’ experiences with the drug. It is our belief that audiences are long overdue for a film that fully explores Ecstasy. …Thank you, in advance, for your consideration, The Rolling Team.” That caught our attention, and we were delighted to discover that it actually delivered as promised. We now proudly present the World Premiere of “Rolling,” Director, Producer, Co-writer Billy Samoa Saleebey's feature length directorial debut. Rolling is a character-driven ensemble piece that conducts documentary-style interviews with a number of characters about events that occurred one very long (but energetic and emotionally open) evening in Los Angeles. The societal cross-section includes a medical student, a teenage runaway, a lawyer, a drag queen, a high-school basketball player, a drug dealer, and a young teacher; and Saleebey coaxes great performances from his talented ensemble to create a truly engaging portrait of a popular subculture. Saleeby utilizes a variety of film and video formats and a broad stylistic palette, including cinema-verité documentary footage and personal testimonials and anecdotes about the MDMA experience, to create this fascinating and truthful hybrid.
