Our Opening Night Film is the juicy profile of the groundbreaking American
culture scenes of D.I.Y. indie music and lowbrow/pop surrealist art. As the
founder of the Sympathy For the Record Industry label, Long Gone John has single-handedly
released over 750 records without ever signing a contract and has helped launch the careers of the White Stripes, Hole, The Dwarves and more.
Inspired by John’s
immense art collection, the scope of the film broadens to expose the expanding
popularity of lowbrow art, and its bible, Juxtapose magazine, through a vast
assortment of interviews with artists, collectors, and musicians of this popular culture once revered as “fringe.”
Please join us for the Opening
Night After Party at OnSix Gallery (66 Sixth Street at Market). Free admission with your ticket stub, the party goes until 2am!
