Like many iconoclastic auteurs, Dante Tomaselli's films divide audience opinions-making him a film festival favorite. His
first film, Desecration, was a cult hit and received extensive coverage in Fangoria and the horror press. His second
film, Horror, has played to a number of international audiences, and travels well because nightmarish big black goats
with horns are creepy in any language.
Horror is a sincere attempt to stretch the boundaries of contemporary horror cinema. The film weaves a few disturbing
storylines into an eerie, visually arresting chiller. A group of teens escape from a drug rehab center, and head for
the supposed promise of salvation at the house of a psychopathic Reverend who sends his disciples into trances with
mesmerism. They discover his enslaved daughter in the basement, being controlled with psychic brainwashing and drug
therapy. The Reverend is played by the Amazing Kreskin!
Breaking news-days before the Program Guide went to press, we found out that Elite Entertainment, the specialty company
responsible for the definitive releases of Night of the Living Dead and The Evil Dead among others, has acquired
Horror. Following its run of successful, award-winning screenings around the world on the festival circuit, Elite
will release the film as a special edition disc in April 2003. We want to extend our congratulations, and invite
our audience to experience Horror on a big screen with the smell of buttered popcorn in the air.
Winner of the New York City Horror Film Festival award for Best Cinematography.
