Synopsis
LIVING IN MISSOURI, an award-winning
tragic Black-Comedy of Manners, tells the tale of Ryan, Amy and Todd,
whose humdrum Midwestern lives are coming apart at the seams. Childhood
friendships, broken down marriages, personal betrayal, and long repressed
desires come into conflict one tumultuous Missouri autumn. Ryan and
Todd have been best friends since the 8th grade, and time has not
been kind. Ryan is married to Amy, neglects his wife and daughter,
plays Star Wars action figure games with his son and habitually steals
office supplies. Todd works in a video store, lives in his parents
basement and has vivid sexual hallucinations. Todd envies Ryan, Amy
is left in the middle, trying to balance career and home, with no
help from her selfish geek husband. Amy turns to Todd for support,
but believes they are actually having an affair. Todds
misunderstanding leads the trio to the brink of disaster. LIVING IN
MISSOURI is a challenging, darkly comic film. Boasting a colorful
cast of supporting characters, in particular familiar character actor
Holmes Osborne (ELECTION, THE X-FILES) as the unforgettable Uncle
Roy. The film veers from humor to intense drama at lightening
speed and maintains a bizarre spirit throughout.
