The Last Best Sunday Sunday
Jan 9@9:35pm
Lumiere*
Don Most Joseph
(Douglas Spain, STAR MAPS), a Mexican-American high school senior, is
brutally attacked by two locals from a small, predominantly white, bigoted
middle-class town. In an uncharacteristic fit of rage, Joseph murders
his attackers and is shot in the process. Wounded and scared, he breaks
into what he thinks is an empty house to escape capture by the local Sheriff
(William Lucking). But classmate Lolly Ann Summers (Angela Bettis), is
home and alone for the weekend while her fundamentalist parents are on
a Christian retreat. Debuting director Don Most, best known for his role
as Ralph Malph on "Happy Days", combines drama and comedy, as
over the course of the weekend, the relationship between Joseph and Lolly
changes from an escaped murderer and hostage to two teenagers from different
worlds who both need a friend and a way out. Gaining solace from each
other for their emotional wounds, they attempt to escape from a town that
would rather see them dead than together. In
