Produced by Jeff Blitz, In
Attendance SPELLBOUND,
follows eight kids from various parts of the country to Washington for
the national Scripps-Howard spelling bee. In the days leading up to the
event, the pressure builds as the kids drill endlessly on impossibly obscure
words and the bee itself is sheer nerve-racking tension. The kids are
all engagingly dorky and super-intelligent, as the camera offers a generous
insight into them and their families. SXSW

Attendance As this year's DocFest coincides with the opening of Episode 2, we thought it appropriate to reminisce about the frenzy that surrounded the opening of Episode 1. STARWOIDS tells the stranger than fiction details of Star Wars fans and their six week line-waiting quest to be the first to see THE PHANTOM MENACE on opening day. On April 7, 1999, two lines formed at the Mann's Village and Chinese Theatres in L.A., each building their own laws, rules, and even government while waiting to see the first Star Wars film in over 16 years. Spanning over two years, looking at both Star Wars fans past and present, STARWOIDS is a firsthand look at the fans, the frenzy and the pursuit to see one of the most anticipated films in cinema history.
